AFK/Leaver Penalty Too High!!!

As I was trying to load into a match with my friend, my internet (which I cannot currently fix) loaded me in two rounds into the game.
After I loaded in, I had high ping and was laggy, but was able to preform better than most of my team that particular match. Me and my friend had a lot of fun.
Except when the match ended and resulted in a defeat and we go back to the home screen. Once there, we Q up for another game and find that I have a 59:45 min "AFK Penalty" for I assume "leaving a game" even tho I was able to play 13 or 17 games out of the many games that are played and still received a hefty timer.
A great fix would be add an AFK Penalty when someone leaves the game for more than one match, find a way to not penalize them if they return and play more matches than they AFKed for, and have a certain ammount of time set for each round. So if someone leaves 4/5 matches, they recieve a 4min out of 5min penalty instead of an hour for missing one match.
What do you all think as internet problems are abound and a 59min timer isn't justified for me missing the first two rounds of a game.

Nah. AFK/Leaver penalty is not high enough. Every other match sees a leaver of some sort. Even being DC'd for one or 2 rounds can have huge impacts. It can be the difference between winning 13/12 or losing 11/13.
It can set the tone of the economy. Winning the first and second round can make it easier to win the rest of the rounds.

To you it is just being AFK for a round or two, but for your team mates it can the start to a rough match.

One thing to keep in mind, is that this is a F2P game, with nothing stopping you from creating a second account. If your connection is that bad, a sock account might not be too bad.,

thecrimsonsatyr I agree. in competitive, even as low as Bronze, teams are usually comprised of at least half-competent people who have at least played the maps/characters to an extent where they know the basics of playing with said char/on said map, so being down a man really has an impact even on these lower ranks. I'm currently on Bronze, but I feel the players are paired fairly with about the same skill level, so unless the team who loses a player due to DC has a pro with an alt account on them, they are going to suffer bigtime. Thankfully this has not affected me in competitive so far, though.

I just don't want to get locked out for an hour on my main account for my internet missing a round or two. Yes in competitive it is important not to miss a single second but in unrated, I don't think it's that important. And the fixes I pointed out above still penalize people for legitimately leaving games.
